Commodity Price Lists
In the Scrap Dragon software, commodity
pricing at the scale is automatic, but can be overriden using override
pricing and pop-up price lists. The automatic price is determined based
on the combination of the Customer and the Commodity. When you setup your
commodities you entered a default scale price for each commodity. Those
prices are the 'Scale' prices which are automatically given to anyone
who has not been assigned special (preferrential) pricing.
You may setup as many price lists
as you need. Each price list can include one or more commodities that
will have a special price assigned.
In Scrap Dragon, Commodity Price
lists have two purposes.
First, price lists allow you to automatically
give your preferred customers different prices for certain designated
commodities. In the customer master file, each customer can be associated
with up to 3 price lists.
Secondly, price lists are used to
create global "pop up" override prices for the scale operator
to choose from. A global price list has commodities assigned to it but
does not need to have any customers associated with it. Instead, the list
is designated as 'global' which will cause it to 'pop up' as an available
(not automatic) price whenever a commodity in the list is purchased, regardless
of the customer.
In our example we have set up four
price lists - level one, two and three as well as one for regular large
scale customers.
To setup lists, from the Master
Files menu select Pricing; Price Lists.

Each price list has three fields;
a name, a description and whether or not the list price should show up
on the scale operator's price override screen for every customer. You
may modify an existing list by selecting it in the grid and making changes
in the edit line. To create new lists press the Add button.
Entering a "Y"
in the 'Global' field will cause the prices in this list to be available
in the price override 'pop-up' price lists, regardless of the customer.
If a "N" is entered in this field, then the prices in this list
will only be used to compute automatic pricing and display override pricing
for customers who have been associated with this list.
Save each entry after you have completed
it. You are also given options to undo any changes you have made and to
delete any entries you wish to discard.
After you have setup your price lists,
you can add commodities into the price lists and associate customers
with the price lists.
